How to Link Your Custom Domain to your Khaime Website (GoDaddy)
Setting up your custom domain with Khaime is a straightforward process that begins in your Khaime dashboard and then involves configuring your GoDaddy DNS settings.
Getting Started in Khaime
Log into your Khaime dashboard (if you're not already logged in)
Navigate to "Profile and Settings"
Click on the "Domain Connection" subtab
Enter your custom domain name in the field provided
Once you've registered your domain in Khaime, you'll need to configure your DNS settings at GoDaddy. This involves two main steps:
Creating a CNAME record for your www subdomain
Setting up a domain forwarding rule for your root domain
This guide will walk you through the entire process using GoDaddy as your DNS provider.
Step 1: Set Up a CNAME Record for www
First, you'll need to create a CNAME record that points your www subdomain (www.yourdomain.com) to Khaime's servers.
Log into your GoDaddy account
Navigate to the "My Products" section
Find your domain and click on "DNS"
In the DNS Management page, look for the "Records" section
Add a new CNAME record with the following settings:
Type: CNAME
Host: www
Points to: domains.khaime.com
TTL: 1 Hour (or default)
Save your changes
Important Note: DNS changes can take anywhere from a few minutes to 48 hours to fully propagate across the internet. Be patient if your domain doesn't connect immediately.
Step 2: Set Up Domain Forwarding for Your Root Domain
Please Note: Only the www version of your domain (www.yourdomain.com) will directly connect to Khaime. The root domain (yourdomain.com) needs to be redirected to your www subdomain.
Follow these steps to set up a permanent redirect from your root domain to your www subdomain:
In your GoDaddy account, go to your domain's settings
Look for "Domain Forwarding" or "Redirect" settings
Add a forwarding rule with these settings:
Forward from: yourdomain.com
Forward to: www.yourdomain.com
Redirect type: Permanent (301)
Forward settings: Forward with masking
Save your changes
This will ensure that whenever someone visits yourdomain.com, they'll be automatically redirected to www.yourdomain.com, which is connected to your Khaime site.
Verifying Your Domain Connection
After setting up both the CNAME record and domain forwarding:
Wait for DNS propagation (could take up to 48 hours, but often completes within a few hours)
Visit www.yourdomain.com to verify that your Khaime site loads properly
Visit yourdomain.com to verify that it redirects to www.yourdomain.com

If your domain isn't connecting properly after 48 hours:
Double-check your CNAME record to ensure it's pointing to domains.khaime.com
Verify your domain forwarding settings
Clear your browser cache or try from a different device
